The Archives of Industry and Commerce in Sormland county was founded at a constituting meeting May 17th 1995. The foundation of the archive meant that historical documents regarding companies, economic associations, press, real estates, farms, local householders’ associations, and persons were transferred from the City Archives of Eskilstuna to a separate archive. The archive is located in Eskilstuna, a town well-known for it’s industrial historical heritage. Here, the foundations of world famous companies such as AB Bolinder-Munktell, ASSA-Stenman AB, and AB C E Johansson were laid.

The Archives of Industry and Commerce in Sormland county is a non-profit organization whose aims are:

- to offer storage room and care to archives from the institutions mentioned above

- to perform fieldwork, make inventory, and give practical advice within the subject area

- to take care of, store, and preserve documents, pictures, plans, and drawings of historical, economical, and cultural geographical interest from the subject area in Sormland county

- to keep the archives accessible to reserchers and other interested, on the depositors' conditions

- to take care of ownerless archives

This website is primarily in Swedish with a brief summary in English. However, the archives do contain some material in English and other languages, for instance instruction books from AB Bolinder-Munktell. Copies of material regarding BM tractors e t c is also one of our most common foreign, question. We would like to stress that this archive is not complete and that we miss some material in this area.
